African Energy Week: Significant Interest in Algeria’s Energy Sector

Algiers – The Algerian energy sector has attracted substantial attention during African Week, hosted in Cape Town, South Africa, according to a statement from the National Agency for the Development of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT) on Monday. The event highlighted Algeria’s growing appeal as a destination for investments.

A delegation from ALNAFT, led by Agency Management Committee Chair Murad Beljhem, presented the framework for the “Algeria Bid Round 2024,” which allows international companies to invest in Algeria’s oil and gas sectors. Held from November 4 to 8, this conference brought together energy sector executives and experts from across Africa to discuss the continent’s energy challenges and opportunities.

The agency reported that its presentation on Algeria’s bid round garnered significant attention, reflecting an increased appetite for investments in Algeria’s energy industry. The international interest serves as a strong indicator of Algeria’s growing status as an attractive investment destination for energy resources.

Additionally, ALNAFT has begun the initial phase of the bid announcement plan, which started with a public notice issued on October 14. This round focuses on six specific fields, with data rooms set to open on November 26, allowing potential investors access to essential project information.
