Minister Zitouni Chairs Coordinating Meeting for Launch of Second Phase of National Economic Census

On Thursday, November 28, 2024, the Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, Mr. Tayeb Zitouni, chaired a coordinating meeting to discuss the preparations for the launch of the second phase of Algeria’s National Economic Census. According to a statement from the Ministry, the meeting took place at the Ministry’s headquarters and was attended by senior ministry officials, as well as representatives from the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

During the meeting, Mr. Zitouni received a presentation from the acting director of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who outlined the plan and objectives for the second phase of the economic census. The discussion highlighted the importance of this phase in building a comprehensive and accurate national database of all economic activities, which will provide a true understanding of the national economy and its productive capacities.

In his address, Minister Zitouni explained that this phase aims to construct a precise, nationwide database that will enhance Algeria’s knowledge of its economic structure. He emphasized that the census is part of the broader vision set forth by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to build a robust and diversified economy, grounded in good governance and sustainable planning.

The second phase of the National Economic Census will be overseen by the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in close coordination with the Ministry’s regional offices and relevant sectors. The Minister also stressed the importance of cooperation from all economic stakeholders to ensure the success of this crucial phase.
