Saleh Boubeir, a renowned Algerian actor, passed away on Saturday afternoon at the age of 63 at the University Hospital Center in Batna. Boubeir had been battling a prolonged illness that confined him to bed in recent years, as confirmed by his family.
The artistic community in Batna, especially the Dr. Saleh El-Mebarkia Regional Theatre team, to which the late actor belonged, mourned his passing deeply.
A Pillar of Batna’s Regional Theatre
Actor and theatre director Ali Jabara described Saleh Boubeir as a key figure in Batna’s regional theatre. “He was one of the leading names in our team, leaving a significant mark with performances that earned recognition both nationally and internationally,” Jabara noted.
Boubeir’s contributions went beyond his talent as an actor; his work embodied a profound dedication to the arts, enriching the Algerian cultural landscape.
Tributes to a Dedicated Artist
Fellow actor Essam Taashit praised Boubeir’s exceptional professionalism and commitment to theatre, highlighting their collaboration in notable productions such as “The Woodcutter” (2016) and “Waiting Room” (2020). The latter was Boubeir’s final performance before his health deteriorated.
Boubeir’s illness, which began in 2021, required hospitalization and eventually led to his retirement from acting. Despite his health challenges, he left behind an impressive body of work, including plays and television series, which continue to inspire the Algerian arts scene.
Final Farewell
The funeral will take place on Sunday after the Dhuhr prayer at Bouzouran Cemetery in Batna, as confirmed by his family.
