Algiers – The Minister of Domestic Trade and Market Regulation, Tayeb Zitouni, and the Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Sifi Ghrib, chaired a joint meeting on Thursday to discuss the progress of the New Exhibition Palace project. The meeting, according to a joint statement from the two ministries, underscored the strategic importance of the initiative.

The project’s construction is being handled by “Batimetal,” a company under the industrial sector. During the meeting, Minister Zitouni emphasized the importance of completing this “strategic” project within the set timelines, noting its potential to become a cornerstone of Algeria’s economic infrastructure.

He highlighted that the Exhibition Palace is among the major projects initiated under the supervision of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune. This ambitious project aims to strengthen Algeria’s economic and trade infrastructure and position the country as a regional economic hub.

The facility is expected to host major economic events, including the 4th African Intercontinental Trade Fair, scheduled for September 2025.

The project aligns with a broader plan to establish 12 new branches under the “SAFEX” group (National Society for Exhibitions and Fairs) in several provinces. These branches aim to enhance commercial infrastructure, improve the distribution of exhibitions and activities nationwide, and support balanced regional development.

Minister Zitouni stressed the need for collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure the project’s readiness, noting that its success is a collective responsibility requiring effective cooperation and meticulous management.

Minister Ghrib reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to providing technical and logistical support to overcome challenges, emphasizing that the project will play a vital role in driving economic development and enhancing Algeria’s status as a regional economic and trade hub.

Following the meeting, the ministers conducted a site visit to review ongoing construction work.

The New Exhibition Palace spans 54 hectares, featuring exhibition halls, conference rooms, restaurants, and other facilities. The first phase includes a main exhibition hall, a forum space, a 500-seat conference complex, and a 200-seat meeting room, covering an area of 45,000 square meters.
