AI Voice Pioneer of Algerian Origin Wins NVIDIA Support for Gradium

Neil Zeghidour, an entrepreneur of Algerian origin and a co-founder of Gradium, has successfully secured over $100 million in funding for his artificial intelligence voice project. This significant investment round includes backing from NVIDIA, a global leader in electronic chips and AI. Gradium aims to transform human-machine interaction by developing advanced vocal intelligence designed to reduce the reliance on traditional keyboards.

Gradium's ambition centers on enabling users to engage with computers, software, and personal assistants through natural speech, allowing for direct expression of objectives such as organizing travel or preparing documents. Prior to establishing Gradium with Laurent Mazare, Olivier Teboul, and Alexandre Défossez, Mr. Zeghidour contributed to the creation of Kyutai in 2023, a non-profit AI research laboratory. Kyutai, which is also an investor in Gradium, is notably funded by Xavier Niel, Rodolphe Saadé, and Éric Schmidt.

The company distinguishes its offerings through the flexibility of its models and the quality of interaction, providing developers with tools to craft AI voice assistants customized with various accents, styles, and tones. Gradium’s models encompass transcription, voice synthesis, and real-time translation, operating with a reported latency of 50 milliseconds to ensure fluid conversations. This achievement highlights the innovative contributions of Algerian-origin talent in the global field of advanced technology.
