Air Algérie Expands International Network with Five New Destinations
Air Algérie has expanded its international air network by launching five new strategic destinations across Africa and Asia, aiming to strengthen Algeria's economic and commercial ties globally.

Air Algérie recently launched five new international destinations, reinforcing Algeria's position in global air transport and expanding its reach into new African and Asian markets. This expansion is considered strategically important for strengthening the nation's economic and commercial relations with its regional and international partners. The specialized publication "Aviation Africa Weekly" cited these five destinations among the most significant developments in the African aviation sector, noting that these new lines reinforce Algeria's position in the air link network connecting Africa, Europe, and Asia.
Four of the new destinations enhance Air Algérie's network across West and Central Africa. These include the resumption of flights to Libya after an approximately 12-year hiatus, and a return to Guinea following a 45-year absence. The inaugural flight to Conakry, Guinea, on October 25-26, was attended by Guinean officials, with the Secretary-General of the Guinean Ministry of Transport describing the route as a "bridge" connecting cultures, economies, and societies. Similarly, the first flight to Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, on October 26, was observed by the Congolese Minister of Air Transport, with the new service scheduled for three weekly flights. In Nigeria, Air Algérie established an agreement with Skyway Aviation Handling Company for ground handling services at Lagos and Abuja airports, a move welcomed by the Nigerian company's president.
The direct flight to Shanghai represents a new extension into Asia, linking Algeria with one of China's key economic and commercial centers. Chinese media and institutions, including Xinhua News Agency and the Chinese Civil Aviation Administration, highlighted the route's potential to facilitate passenger movement and enhance economic and commercial ties between Algeria and China, with three weekly flights confirmed. This comprehensive expansion aligns with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's strategic vision to modernize air transport, enhance Algeria's presence within Africa, and broaden its international partnerships, positioning Air Algérie's network as a tool for economic openness, partnership consolidation, and the facilitation of trade and humanitarian exchanges.
