Air Algérie Resumes Tripoli Flights After Ten-Year Pause
Air Algérie has resumed direct flights between Algiers and Tripoli on October 28, 2026, after a ten-year interruption. This move strengthens bilateral relations and expands the airline's North African network.

Air Algérie reestablished direct air links between Algiers and Tripoli on October 28, 2026, following a suspension of over ten years. This resumption marks a significant step in reinforcing bilateral relations between Algeria and Libya. The airline now operates two weekly flights, which is part of Air Algérie's broader strategy to expand its network across North Africa.
The inaugural flight, designated AH 4006, departed from Houari-Boumediene International Airport in Algiers at 9:00 AM and landed at Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli around noon. This event was met with enthusiasm and symbolizes a renewal of exchanges between the two nations, contributing to regional economic development and offering new travel opportunities for passengers.
The restoration of these flights was facilitated by improvements in the Libyan air sector and enhanced airport cooperation. Restrictions on air travel in Libya were lifted on October 23, 2026, leading to a substantial increase in air transit authorizations, from 2,000 to 61,968 per month. Additionally, Air Algérie secured an essential logistical support agreement with Libyan Ground Handling Services on October 19, 2026, to underpin its operations in Libya.
