Date Export Revenues Climb, Nearing $75 Million in First Half 2026
Algerian date exports have demonstrated significant growth in revenues, reaching $98.32 million in 2025 and nearly $75.04 million in the first half of 2026, supported by sustained international demand.

Algeria's date exports have shown a significant increase in recent years, with revenues growing consistently. According to figures presented by Kamel Rezig, Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, date exports generated $87.06 million in 2024. This figure rose to $98.32 million in 2025, marking an approximate 13% increase within a year. The positive trend continued into the first half of 2026, during which revenues from date exports already approached $75.04 million.
Alongside the rising revenues, the volume of dates commercialized internationally also expanded. Algeria exported 111,610 tonnes of dates in 2024, followed by 115,600 tonnes in 2025. In the first six months of 2026 alone, the quantities shipped reached 67,740 tonnes. Minister Rezig indicated that these results underscore the sustained demand for Algerian dates and the successful development of their commercial outlets in international markets.
These export performances are built upon a growing international reputation, positioning Algeria as a prominent African exporter of dates. Key phoenicultural basins in the South, including Biskra, El Oued, and Ouargla, contribute significantly to this status. The Deglet Nour variety, a flagship Algerian date, is recognized globally and is popular in European, Asian, and North American markets. Its esteemed image is further reflected in international rankings, such as TasteAtlas, which places Algeria at the top for medium-sweet dates.
