Joint Military Escort Delivers Fuel to Niger's Agadez
Algeria has delivered its first consignment of fuel to Niger, with approximately sixty tanker trucks arriving in Agadez under a joint military escort. This delivery aims to alleviate ongoing petroleum supply difficulties in the northern Nigerien region.

Algeria has completed its inaugural fuel delivery to Niger, with approximately sixty tanker trucks arriving in Agadez, located in the northern region of the country, on the evening of October 31, 2026. The substantial convoy traveled under a joint military escort provided by both Algerian and Nigerien armed forces, underscoring bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
This critical delivery responds to the ongoing challenges Niger has faced regarding the supply of petroleum products. The region, particularly Agadez and Tahoua, has experienced increased demand, notably from market gardening and gold mining sectors, coupled with an insufficient local supply. Discussions regarding potential fuel provision from Algeria were previously reported on September 20 by Agadez Governor Ibra Boulama Issa, who highlighted the growing needs in the area.
The arrival of the fuel consignment was supervised by Algeria's Consul in Agadez alongside Nigerien authorities, marking a significant step in the logistical support provided to the region. An official reception for this first batch is anticipated on November 1 in Agadez, with the Nigerien Minister of Petroleum expected to be present, further solidifying the cooperative effort between the two countries.
