Minister Unveils New Cereal, Cold Storage Centers

The Algerian Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries, Sid Ali Khaldi, recently inaugurated new cereal and cold storage facilities in Tissemsilt, marking a significant advancement for the province's agricultural capabilities. These strategic projects are designed to expand storage capacities and bring collection structures closer to local farmers, directly implementing the directives issued by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to enhance national food security.

During his visit, Minister Khaldi formally opened a local cereal storage center in Tissemsilt municipality with a capacity of 50,000 quintals. This was complemented by the inauguration of a larger cereal storage silo in Khemisti municipality, capable of holding 200,000 quintals. A notable addition is the newly operational cold storage room in Khemisti, named after the late Mujahid Mohamed Makaki, which boasts a 5,000 cubic meter capacity aimed at preserving and valorizing agricultural products. The Minister also inspected ongoing work for a strategic silo with a one million quintal capacity and two additional local storage centers, collectively strengthening Tissemsilt's position in agricultural material storage.

These infrastructure developments are poised to optimize crop collection and storage conditions while providing crucial support to professionals in the grain sector. Furthermore, Minister Khaldi initiated the plowing and sowing campaign for the 2026-2027 agricultural season in Ammari municipality and assessed efforts to modernize production methods at the 'Martyr Chawki Rabah' agricultural unit. His itinerary also included a review of rural development programs in Al-Qarouj hamlet, all part of a broader commitment to leveraging the region's considerable agricultural potential, improving rural living standards, and boosting the local economy.
