ALGIERS — On the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious Revolution of November 1, 1954, President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune stressed that the memory of colonial resistance remains the unwavering foundation of the Algerian state's collective consciousness and modern sovereignty.

In his official address to the Nation, the Head of State recalled the hardship, deprivation, and dehumanizing violence endured by the Algerian people under colonial rule, describing colonialism as an "infamous stain in the history of humanity." This historical legacy, passed down through generations, highlights the steadfast commitment of the resistance and the origin of the 1954 uprising that brought an end to 132 years of occupation.

President Tebboune emphasized that national sovereignty today extends beyond strict geographical borders to encompass the protection of the country's vital strategic interests. In this context, he highlighted the constitutional authorization and institutional consensus governing regional cooperation, such as the deployment of units from the People's National Army (ANP) in Niger. This proactive approach illustrates Algeria's determination to safeguard its national security and consolidate regional stability through sovereign political decisions rooted in the spirit of November.

By linking yesterday's epic resistance to contemporary geopolitical imperatives, the presidential message consecrates the historical continuity between the sacrifices of the 1954 martyrs and the active defense of Algeria's sovereign interests today.
