Russia-Algeria Trade Reaches $3.84 Billion, Targets $10 Billion

Trade exchanges between Algeria and Russia saw a notable increase, with their value rising by 20 percent during the first nine months of 2026 to reach $3.84 billion. This figure approaches the $4 billion mark, as announced by Russia's Ambassador to Algeria, Alexey Solomatin. This development extends a period of growth, following a trade volume of $3.2 billion in 2025, which itself represented a 56 percent increase over previous years, according to Russian statements. Both nations have set an ambitious target to further boost bilateral trade to $10 billion by 2030.

The burgeoning economic relationship positions Algeria as a significant partner for Russia on the African continent. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova affirmed Algeria's status as one of Russia's primary partners in Africa, noting it holds the second position in trade and economic exchanges, after Egypt. Zakharova also characterized the military and technical cooperation between the two countries as exemplary, highlighting the expanding scope of their bilateral partnership beyond commercial transactions.

This upward trend reflects a shared aspiration to broaden economic cooperation and diversify its areas, building on the consistent growth observed in trade volumes. The commitment to achieving the $10 billion trade target by 2030 underscores the strengthening ties between Algeria and Russia. Algerian exports to the Russian market include various products, such as fruits and plastics, contributing to the overall trade relationship.
