Southern Provinces Plan 1.5 Million Hectares for Cultivation
Vast areas of the Adrar Sahara have been transformed into productive agricultural oases, contributing significantly to Algeria's economic growth. The nation aims to rehabilitate 1.5 million hectares in its southern provinces, drawing substantial investments.

Extensive land rehabilitation efforts in the Adrar Sahara have successfully converted vast expanses of sand into agricultural oases. These visible transformations underscore the nation's ongoing agricultural expansion, a sector that contributes approximately 18% to the national Gross Domestic Product, representing a value of around $37 billion.
With agricultural production expanding significantly, the focus has shifted from simply increasing yields to effectively managing marketing and distribution. This involves ensuring adequate supply for local demand while also developing new avenues for export. Looking ahead, Algeria is targeting the rehabilitation of approximately 1.5 million hectares of land across its southern provinces.
This ambitious undertaking is designed to attract substantial agricultural investments, encompassing both local and international capital. Such significant investment and expansion are set to further bolster the national economy through continued development in the agricultural sector.
