Ghrieb Chairs Meeting on Market Stability, Purchasing Power

Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb presided over a coordination meeting held via videoconference on Thursday, November 5, 2026, with the participation of concerned government members and Walis. The meeting also included the President of the National Chamber of Agriculture, the President of the General Union of Algerian Traders and Artisans, and the President of the National Union of Algerian Farmers. This assembly, attended by local officials and agricultural representatives from M'Sila, aligns with the President of the Republic's directives aimed at regulating the national market and preserving citizens' purchasing power.

A key development from the meeting was the official launch of a new digital platform designed for the daily monitoring of prices and the availability of essential consumer products across all wilayas. This participatory approach seeks to involve all stakeholders within the national market's supply chains, establishing a transparent and organized framework through a digital process. The platform is intended to ensure rigorous tracking of goods and products, monitor their availability, and control pricing at all levels.

During the session, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to implementing the President of the Republic's instructions regarding ongoing support for genuine farmers and traders. This includes continuous engagement to listen to and effectively address their concerns. Furthermore, Walis were reminded of the imperative to take immediate legal and deterrent measures to combat any attempts to artificially create shortages, undermine market supply stability, or manipulate prices, thereby safeguarding the purchasing power of citizens.
