Rylès Trouba Chooses Algeria Over French U16 Team

Rylès Trouba, a defensive midfielder born in Sèvres on March 11, 2010, has accepted a call-up to the Algerian national football team. The player, currently with Le Havre, will join Algeria's 2010 generation squad, which is preparing for the UNAF tournament. This competition serves as a qualifier for the CAN U17 2027, highlighting a significant step in his international career.

Trouba previously represented France at the U16 level, making five appearances, three of which were as a starter, totaling 197 minutes on the field. His prior engagements with the French youth teams, however, do not permanently commit him to the French national setup. He now integrates into the Algerian selection led by Karim Ziani, a squad sometimes referred to as Algeria U17 B. Trouba's development includes training at AC Boulogne-Billancourt, FC Issy-les-Moulineaux, and Paris 13 Atletico before joining Le Havre's academy in 2025.

The acquisition of Trouba is considered a valuable addition for Algeria, particularly as the team faces immediate competitive pressure in the upcoming qualifiers. His experience from playing with France against teams like Switzerland, Luxembourg, Argentina, and Japan is expected to bolster the Algerian squad. The UNAF tournament is set to commence on November 10 in Sousse, with Algeria's first match against Morocco, followed by encounters with Tunisia on November 13 and Egypt on November 16 in Monastir. Only the top two teams from this four-nation mini-championship will secure qualification, making Trouba's international experience a crucial asset for Algeria's campaign.
