Interior Ministry Launches Party Oversight Platform

The Algerian Ministry of Interior, Local Collectivities, and Urban Planning has implemented a new central digital platform designed to manage political parties. This initiative operates under Executive Decree No. 26-317, issued on September 28, 2026, which defines the operational procedures for this digital tool dedicated to monitoring political party affairs. The platform serves as a key interface between the Ministry and political parties, intended to enhance administrative efficiency and transparency in political governance.
The digital platform's functionalities include overseeing the establishment and accreditation processes for political parties. It is equipped to receive applications for party formation, requests for authorization to hold constituent conferences, and accreditation requests. Additionally, it manages various decisions and notifications pertinent to these procedures, such as the authorization, cancellation, or rejection of founding conferences, and the approval or refusal of party accreditation. The system also verifies the compliance of parties' organizational statuses with current legislation.
Beyond initial accreditation, the platform meticulously tracks changes and amendments within political parties. This involves requiring parties to notify the Ministry via the platform of local structure addresses, updated membership lists with party affiliations, and any alterations to party bodies, including national permanent or temporary committees and local structures. Furthermore, parties must declare their national headquarters address, modifications to their political programs, basic laws, or internal regulations, along with relevant supporting documents. The platform also covers political activities, proposals to public authorities, declarations of received donations, planned cooperation with foreign political parties, political alliances, mergers, voluntary dissolution decisions, and annual financial reports, requiring accredited parties to maintain an official account for these declarations.
