Saudi Pavilion Unveiled as ANAP Presents 700 Titles at Book Fair

The 29th Algiers International Book Fair (SILA 2026) has commenced at the Exhibition Palace in Algiers, running from October 28 to November 7. The prestigious event, officially opened by the President of the Nation's Council Azzouz Naciri on behalf of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, is hosting 1567 publishing houses from 51 nations under the slogan “Tomorrow between the covers of a book.” This year’s edition prominently features Saudi Arabia as the guest of honor, with the Saudi Authority for Literature, Publishing, and Translation having inaugurated the Kingdom's dedicated pavilion at the fair.
A significant contribution to the fair comes from the National Agency for Communication, Publishing and Advertising (ANAP), which is participating with an extensive collection of over 700 titles. These publications span various literary, intellectual, and historical fields, demonstrating Algeria's rich cultural output. ANAP's presence also includes scheduled signing sessions for the public and a dedicated children's area featuring coloring workshops and interactive activities, aiming to engage younger audiences. The fair itself boasts a display of approximately 300,000 titles and a comprehensive program of 994 cultural, literary, and intellectual events.
The extensive cultural program includes lectures, intellectual seminars, literary meetings, and poetry evenings, covering themes such as novels, short stories, poetry, and the relationship between writing, memory, and identity, with a special focus on young creators. This edition also marks the third iteration of the “My First Book” literary prize for young writers and introduces a new award to honor the best Algerian translator. Furthermore, visitors can explore a “History and Memory” space utilizing 3D projection techniques to highlight Algeria's past, alongside activities dedicated to African literature and thought.
