Sonatrach CEO Advances US Energy Technology Cooperation

Noureddine Daoudi, the President and CEO of Sonatrach, held two working meetings in Houston, United States, with officials from American companies Baker Hughes and KBR. These discussions focused on prospects for cooperation in energy technologies, engineering, innovation, and the development of industrial projects. The meetings were conducted as part of a high-level Sonatrach delegation's working visit to the United States from October 12 to 16.
During the meeting with Baker Hughes, discussions centered on innovative technological solutions for drilling, well completion, production, and installation optimization. Exchanges also addressed the applications of artificial intelligence and digital transformation within the hydrocarbons industry, aiming to enhance facility performance, strengthen industrial partnership, and localize activities. Sonatrach's ongoing collaboration with Baker Hughes includes the Hassi R'Mel gas pressure reinforcement project (Phase III, Step 2), awarded to a consortium that includes Baker Hughes. This partnership also extends to joint subsidiaries ALGESCO and APAC, which specialize in providing services and technological solutions to the energy industry.
The encounter with KBR explored opportunities for cooperation in the realization of industrial projects, particularly in the upstream oil and gas sector. KBR showcased its expertise in clean technologies, ammonia production, the integration of artificial intelligence in facility management, and the enhancement of operational excellence. KBR has a historical presence in the Algerian energy sector, dating back to the early 1980s, and has contributed to several significant industrial projects, including those in liquefied natural gas (LNG) and hydrocarbon treatment.
Through these strategic meetings, Sonatrach aims to consolidate its partnership relations with key international players in the energy sector. This initiative seeks to mobilize the necessary expertise and technologies to advance its activities and strengthen the overall performance of Algeria's national energy industry.
