Death of Freedom Fighter Rabah Meshhoud

Algeria – The nation mourns the loss of Rabah Meshhoud, a veteran freedom fighter and member of the National Liberation Army, known by his alias Abdel Sattar Mohamed. He passed away at the age of 97, as announced on Thursday by the Ministry of Mujahideen and Rights Holders.

Born in 1928 in the municipality of Oumjadz El Dchiche in Skikda Province, the late Rabah Meshhoud joined the Algerian People’s Party early on. He served as the president of the General Union of Algerian Muslim Students and was a member of the Secret Organization. His patriotic journey also led him to work in the military office of the National Liberation Army in Cairo during Algeria’s struggle for independence.

After Algeria gained independence, Rabah Meshhoud continued to serve his country in prominent roles. He held diplomatic positions in several Arab and foreign countries and represented Algeria at the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Expressing his condolences, the Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Mr. Laid Rebiga, extended heartfelt sympathies to the family of the deceased and his comrades in the struggle for freedom. He prayed that God grants him eternal mercy.
