Algeria’s Minister of Health, Abdelhak Saïhi, acting as a special envoy for President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, was received on Thursday in Moroni by the President of the Union of the Comoros, Azali Assoumani. The meeting was confirmed in a statement from the Ministry of Health.
According to the statement, Saïhi presented a “written message from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to his brother, the President of the Union of the Comoros.” This meeting provided an opportunity to exchange “sincere fraternal greetings” between the leaders of both nations, through the special envoy. They emphasized the strong bilateral relations between the two countries and their shared aspirations to strengthen bonds of brotherhood and cooperation, aiming to elevate their partnership to new heights in the mutual interest of both nations.
Discussions on Strengthening Cooperation
The meeting, attended by Algeria’s ambassador to the Comoros based in Madagascar, also focused on ways to strengthen and expand bilateral relations. Discussions highlighted:
- Enhancing training programs for Comorian students in Algeria.
- Exploring opportunities to broaden cooperation to include key sectors such as fisheries and agriculture, which would benefit both nations.
Addressing Continental Challenges
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides exchanged views on major challenges and issues facing the African continent. They stressed the importance of joint efforts to achieve sustainable development across Africa.
