Gaza – The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) stated that the Zionist entity’s failure to release the seventh batch of Palestinian prisoners on the agreed-upon date constitutes a “blatant violation” of the prisoner exchange deal and the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

Hamas spokesperson, Abdel Latif Al-Qanou, said in a statement that “The occupation’s failure to commit to releasing the seventh batch of prisoners in the exchange process on the agreed date (Saturday) represents a blatant violation of the agreement.”

He added, “While Hamas has responded to the efforts of mediators to ensure the success of the exchange process, the Zionist entity continues its delaying and procrastinating tactics and postpones the release of prisoners.”

Al-Qanou called on mediators and guarantors of the agreement “to exert pressure on the occupation to respect the ceasefire agreement and implement its terms without delay or procrastination.”

For his part, the head of Hamas in the West Bank, Zaher Jabarin, stated: “We are working with mediators in Qatar and Egypt to resolve outstanding issues, and the Zionist enemy will not find any mediator or guarantor later if it violates the agreement and refuses to hand over our prisoners.”

Jabarin demanded the formation of an international commission of inquiry to investigate the treatment of Palestinian prisoners inside occupation prisons, pointing out that “the occupation insists until the last moments on abusing prisoners before their release.”

It was expected that the Zionist entity would release 620 Palestinian detainees yesterday, Saturday, including 50 sentenced to life imprisonment, 97 who were decided to be deported abroad, and 23 children arrested by the occupation army from Gaza after October 7, 2023.
