Sonelgaz Delegation on a Working Visit to Niger on February 25-26

Algiers – A Sonelgaz delegation, led by its CEO Mourad Adjal, will embark on a working visit to Niger on February 25-26, as part of efforts to strengthen the partnership between Algeria’s public energy group and Nigelec, Niger’s national electricity company, according to a statement from Sonelgaz on Monday.

The delegation will be accompanied by officials from the Algerian Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies, underscoring Algeria’s commitment to bolstering economic and technical cooperation with Niger through concrete projects aimed at enhancing the country’s energy security and developing its electricity infrastructure.

The visit also seeks to explore new development opportunities that serve the mutual interests of both nations by expanding cooperation between Sonelgaz and Nigelec.

According to Sonelgaz’s statement, this visit follows a virtual meeting in January between Mourad Adjal and Nigelec representatives, during which both parties discussed accelerating the pace of collaboration.

As a result of that meeting, a joint working group was formed to draft a memorandum of understanding, defining cooperation mechanisms aligned with the energy ambitions of both Algeria and Niger.

This initiative reflects Algeria’s strategic vision in expanding its energy partnerships across Africa, reinforcing its role as a key player in regional energy development.
