Geneva – Algeria has strongly condemned the continuous and severe violations of international law committed by the Zionist occupation forces, calling on all countries and United Nations bodies to ensure accountability and justice.
During a dialogue session with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, Algerian Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Rachid Beladhane, reaffirmed Algeria’s firm stance against the crimes committed by the Zionist regime.
Algeria “strongly condemns the grave and ongoing violations of international law by the occupation forces and settlers against the defenseless Palestinian people, who have been suffering under occupation for more than 76 years,” stated Beladhane.
Expressing Algeria’s appreciation for the High Commissioner’s report, the Algerian representative stressed that attempts to create a false equivalence between the occupying power and the occupied Palestinian state are misleading and inconsistent with international law. He criticized the Zionist entity for refusing to cooperate with the High Commissioner’s office in investigating the documented violations, highlighting its blatant disregard for international obligations.
“For decades, the Palestinian people have endured systematic killings, forced displacement, home demolitions, illegal settlement expansion, and the institutionalization of an apartheid system,” Beladhane said. “The recent genocide in Gaza was an unprecedented humanitarian crime, leaving catastrophic consequences that continue to hinder the return of a safe life for Gazans.”
Reaffirming Algeria’s unwavering support for Palestine, Beladhane called for the full realization of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state based on internationally recognized frameworks. He also urged the Zionist entity to adhere to the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, facilitate the return of displaced civilians, and ensure the unconditional entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged enclave.
Algeria further called on all nations and UN bodies to uphold accountability, enforce justice, and provide reparations for the crimes committed by the Zionist occupation against the Palestinian people.
