“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and peace and blessings be upon the most esteemed of the prophets,
Dear citizens,
We celebrate Victory Day on March 19, a day that stands gloriously in the history of Algeria, marking the culmination of decades of struggle under the banner of the national movement and the war of liberation waged by the Algerian people for over seven years. This struggle was rooted in the realization of the necessity of armed combat, ignited by a generation of patriots who were forged through a difficult and bitter journey of raising awareness in preparation for a destined day. On that day, they resolved to issue the November 1st Declaration, shaking the colonial settlers and heralding the inspiring Revolution of Liberation on November 1, 1954.
It was indeed one of the greatest and most significant revolutions against colonialism and one of the most sincere and noble epics of peoples’ struggle against tyranny and domination in modern times. It will remain a testament to the Algerian people’s attachment to freedom and an expression of the dignity and honor of nations.
Victory Day, which we celebrate with pride and loyalty, is the fruit of the pure blood that watered our sacred land and the immense sacrifices endured by the Algerian people with courage, faith, and patience to live freely and honorably in their homeland. Just as the martyrs were endlessly generous towards their homeland, demonstrating high morale and pride in self-sacrifice and love for the country, so too are the Algerian men and women who inherited this glory and preserved it. Today, they are building their nation with the same spirit, determination, principles, and values, neither compromising nor trading them away. They are driven by the will to build, develop, and lay the foundations of a modern state, by fostering an economic policy that attracts investments and wealth, alongside the infrastructure projects that drive development and the successes achieved by their youth through pioneering ventures in investment within a strategy focused on valuing national resources and harnessing them for sustainable development and continuous social progress to ensure a dignified life for all citizens.
In this ongoing phase, the state continues to mobilize energies to secure the supreme national interests of the country, strengthen internal unity with a national consciousness that fills Algerians with pride, and exercise vigilant political foresight amidst the complexities of regional conditions and their potential consequences, while carefully following the transformations occurring in international relations in a manner that reflects Algeria’s standing, role, and geostrategic weight, consistent with the ideals and principles of the great Liberation Revolution.
With this authentic national approach, we celebrate Victory Day today in victorious Algeria, with unwavering loyalty to the righteous martyrs, with sincere dedication to the trust of the great Algerian people, and with genuine commitment to serving our beloved homeland.
On this occasion, I pay tribute to the souls of the righteous martyrs and extend my greetings to my sisters, the female veterans, and my brothers, the male veterans—may God grant them long lives—and I pray that Allah accepts your fasting and prayers during this blessed month of Ramadan.
Long live Algeria!
Eternal glory to our righteous martyrs!
And peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah, and His blessings.”
