Algiers – The Algerian national football team has ramped up its training sessions at the Sidi Moussa Technical Center, as they prepare for their decisive Group G World Cup qualifier against Mozambique, scheduled for Tuesday at 22:00 at the Hussein Aït Ahmed Stadium in Tizi Ouzou.
According to a statement from the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), the “Greens” held an intensive tactical training session on Sunday evening, with all players present, except for Mohamed Farès, who continues to follow a personalized rehabilitation program.
Petkovic Finalizing Tactical Plan
National coach Vladimir Petkovic used the session to fine-tune his tactical setup for the critical encounter, which could determine the fate of Group G’s top spot.
This afternoon, the Algerian squad will travel to Tizi Ouzou, where they will conduct one final training session later in the evening on the main pitch of the Hussein Aït Ahmed Stadium—the venue that will host tomorrow’s high-stakes match.

Path to World Cup 2026
Only the top team from each of the nine African qualifying groups will earn direct qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be held across the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Meanwhile, the four best second-placed teams will enter continental playoffs, with a chance to reach an intercontinental play-off, offering one final path to the world’s biggest football tournament.
With qualification hanging in the balance and home advantage in Tizi Ouzou, the Desert Warriors are fully focused on securing a decisive victory and maintaining their lead in the group.
