The Algerian Minister of Youth, tasked with the Supreme Youth Council, Mustafa Haidawi, met in Addis Ababa with Ethiopia’s Minister of Women and Social Affairs, Ergogie Tesfaye, to discuss shared issues concerning Algerian, Ethiopian, and African youth, according to a Thursday statement from the ministry.
The meeting marked the start of Haidawi’s bilateral engagements during his participation in the “African Youth Leaders Summit,” held in the Ethiopian capital from April 3 to 5, 2025, under the theme “Unleashing Youth Potential for a Prosperous Africa.” Accompanied by Algeria’s ambassador to Ethiopia and embassy staff, Haidawi emphasized “the political leadership’s support in Algeria for youth issues across Africa, particularly empowering youth, revitalizing youth institutions, and enhancing their appeal and coordination among African youth ministers under the African Union Commission.” He highlighted proposals and programs addressing key youth priorities and opportunities to tackle continental challenges.
Tesfaye expressed “admiration for the mechanisms Algeria recently introduced to empower its youth,” noting the emergence of exemplary youth models in fields like politics and economics. She affirmed Ethiopia’s readiness to join this continental effort to empower African youth without exception, the statement added. http://dzwatch.dz
