The Djazaïr Agro 2025 exhibition, which opened its doors on Monday at the Palais des Expositions in Safex (Algiers), has attracted 540 enterprises from the food industries, canning, and packaging sectors, representing 38 countries. Of these, 44% hail from the European Union, alongside Asian and Turkish companies.
Nabil Bey Boumezrag, General Manager of Promo Salon-Algeria, the event’s organizer, stated that among the exhibitors, 150 are Algerian enterprises, reflecting the growing dynamism of the national food industry sector. He described this strong participation as “an indicator of the rapid development of this essential sector in the Algerian economy.”
During a press conference, Boumezrag emphasized the exhibition’s significance in bringing together manufacturers of equipment, producers of flavors, ingredients, and food products, as well as stakeholders in canning and packaging. He noted that the food industry has become “a key driver of the national economy,” with abundant agricultural production in recent years opening new opportunities for manufacturers, particularly those specializing in fruit and vegetable processing.
Boumezrag also highlighted the importance of innovation in canning, packaging, and processing, urging young talents and project holders to visit the exhibition to explore industrial solutions meeting international standards.
Chantal de Lamotte, a representative of Comexposium, a co-organizer of the event, underscored the value of the seminars held on the sidelines of the exhibition. She explained, “We will address critical topics such as agricultural land reclamation in Algeria, which could enhance local resource utilization and reduce import dependency,” while praising the quality of local agricultural products.
Among the national exhibitors, several brands drew the attention of visitors and exporting enterprises, particularly those targeting European and African markets.
Expected to attract 23,000 visitors according to the organizers, Djazaïr Agro serves as a flagship event for the food industry, providing an ideal framework for commercial exchange and industrial innovation.
