Algiers – Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Urban Planning, Brahim Murad, arrived in Naples, Italy, to participate in the quadripartite coordination meeting on issues related to irregular migration, at the invitation of his Italian counterpart, Matteo Piantedosi, according to a Thursday statement from the ministry.
The statement clarified that “at the invitation of his Italian counterpart, Mr. Matteo Piantedosi, Mr. Brahim Murad, Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Urban Planning, arrived in Naples to take part in the quadripartite coordination meeting on matters concerning irregular migration, bringing together the interior ministers of Algeria, Italy, Tunisia, and Libya.”
The meeting will provide an opportunity to “assess the level of cooperation between the four countries, particularly in the areas of security coordination, combating cross-border crimes—chiefly irregular migration and human trafficking—and the effectiveness of operational measures adopted since the last quadripartite meeting in May of the previous year,” the statement added.
