Cars: Fiat Algeria Adopts Measures to Combat Speculation

Algiers – Fiat Algeria has announced its “full commitment” to the efforts initiated by the Ministry of Industry to combat speculation in the locally manufactured car market, adopting a series of practical measures aimed at protecting consumers from this phenomenon, according to a statement issued by the ministry on Thursday.

This announcement came during a meeting chaired by the Minister of Industry, Sifi Gharib, on Thursday at the ministry’s headquarters, attended by representatives of Fiat Algeria, to discuss ways to tackle speculation and profiteering in the market for locally produced vehicles.

Among the key measures unveiled by the company is the adoption of a “pledge of commitment” to be signed by customers upon purchase, through which they pledge not to engage in any form of speculation, whether directly or indirectly, as per the same source.

Fiat Algeria also committed to providing all relevant data and information to the competent authorities on a daily basis to help combat this issue, according to the ministry’s statement.

It is worth noting that on Wednesday, Mr. Gharib chaired a coordination meeting dedicated to finalizing the launch of a “digital platform for monitoring the sale of locally manufactured cars,” with the participation of representatives from relevant entities involved in the project, including the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Regional Planning; the Ministry of Justice; the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Market Regulation; as well as representatives from the National Gendarmerie Command.
