Mr. Attaf Receives Phone Call from Pakistani Counterpart

Algiers – On Sunday, May 11, 2025, Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, received a phone call from Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, according to a statement from the ministry.

During the call, the Pakistani minister briefed his Algerian counterpart on “recent developments in the Indian subcontinent, particularly the circumstances surrounding the ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India, aimed at de-escalating tensions and avoiding any escalation that could jeopardize security and stability in both countries and the region,” the statement noted.

For his part, Attaf expressed Algeria’s welcome of the agreement, commending “the mediation efforts that facilitated its achievement by prioritizing diplomacy and dialogue over tension and confrontation.”

He also affirmed “Algeria’s aspiration that this step be consolidated and strengthened in the coming days to pave the way for new prospects toward establishing a lasting, just, and final peace between the two neighboring countries, serving the interests of their peoples and enhancing security and stability across the entire region,” as stated in the release.
