President Tebboune Presides Over Reception at the National Army Club on Independence Day

In a powerful display of national unity and pride, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, led a grand reception at the National Army Club in Beni Messous, Algiers, on the evening of July 5, 2025. The event marked the 63rd anniversary of Algeria’s independence and the restoration of national sovereignty, reaffirming the country’s unwavering commitment to its revolutionary values and the memory of its martyrs.

A Ceremony Honoring the Army and the Nation

The President was welcomed at the entrance of the National Army Club by General Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army. The reception brought together a distinguished assembly of senior military officials—both active and retired—as well as high-ranking state officials, reflecting the deep respect and appreciation for the People’s National Army’s historic and ongoing role in safeguarding Algeria’s sovereignty.

Among the attendees were the President of the Council of the Nation, the President of the National People’s Assembly, the Prime Minister, the Acting President of the Constitutional Court, the Director of the Presidential Office, the Secretary General of the Presidency, members of the government, presidential advisors, the Commander of the Land Forces, the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defense, commanders of the armed forces and the Republican Guard, the National Gendarmerie, the Director of the Ministry of Defense Office, the Commander of the First Military Region, heads of departments, directors, and central service chiefs of the Ministry of National Defense and the Army General Staff. Also present were senior state officials, national personalities, veterans, and members of the accredited diplomatic corps in Algeria.

Celebrating Algeria’s Glorious History

The ceremony, rooted in the noble traditions of the People’s National Army, aimed to honor Algeria’s glorious historical milestones and to pay tribute to the souls of the nation’s righteous martyrs. The event began with the national anthem performed by the Republican Guard’s musical ensemble, followed by the screening of a documentary titled “Victorious Algeria… Algeria of Construction and Loyalty to the Martyrs’ Oath,” produced by the Directorate of Information and Communication of the Army General Staff. The evening concluded with a spectacular fireworks display, symbolizing the enduring spirit of independence and the nation’s ongoing journey of construction and loyalty.

A Message of Unity and Sovereignty

This reception, presided over by President Tebboune, stands as a testament to Algeria’s steadfast commitment to its independence, sovereignty, and the values of the November Revolution. It also highlights the unbreakable bond between the Algerian people, their army, and their leadership—a bond that continues to inspire the nation’s support for just causes, including the right of peoples to self-determination, as exemplified by Algeria’s principled stance on the Western Sahara issue.
