64,000 New Teachers, 289 Facilities Ready for School Year

Algeria is advancing its educational preparations for the 2026-2027 academic year by recruiting 64,000 new teachers and delivering 289 new educational infrastructures. These measures are designed to enhance the educational system, including pedagogical adjustments such as the introduction of English as the first foreign language from the third primary year.

Throughout the last week, field monitoring and coordination operations have been ongoing across various wilayas to ensure the comprehensive readiness of educational institutions. These efforts have included the inauguration and reception of new school establishments, alongside inspections of rearrangement, maintenance, and restoration works. The operations also focused on improving and arranging school environments, in addition to monitoring expansion and construction projects.

Governors have convened coordination meetings with various stakeholders to finalize preparations and guarantee the provision of school transport and catering from the academic year's first day. The implementation of ministerial directives to designate spaces and sales points for school supplies has also been a key part of these preparations. These extensive efforts align with directives from the country's high authorities and the Minister of Interior, Local Communities, and Urban Planning, aiming to ensure favorable conditions for students and a successful start to the 2026-2027 academic year.
