Algiers – On Wednesday, Minister of Transport Mr. Lazhar Saioud chaired a coordination meeting focused on reviewing public service compensation files within the transport sector, according to a statement from the ministry.The meeting, attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry, central directors, and general managers of public institutions under the Ministry’s supervision across different transport modes, featured a technical presentation on the financial status of these institutions. The presentation addressed additional expenses, cost disparities resulting from public service provision, and the justifications for requested subsidies.On this occasion, the Minister emphasized the importance of thorough and prior review of each file. He called for direct technical meetings with general managers to analyze the specific financial context and challenges of each institution before making any subsidy-related decisions.He further stressed that any support granted must be justified by a tangible improvement in the quality and efficiency of public services, following a rational approach that balances costs and expected outcomes.At the conclusion of the meeting, the Minister called for enhanced coordination and transparency in the preparation of files, the establishment of accurate follow-up mechanisms to ensure optimal use of public resources and improved efficiency, and the creation of a specialized task force to thoroughly study the files and begin work as soon as possible.*Keywords: Ministry of Transport, Meeting, Public Service, Lazhar Saioud*
