Algiers – The art exhibition titled *”Emergence”* by self-taught artist Amira Zatir opened this Wednesday in Algiers, showcasing a vibrant collection of abstract and impressionist paintings that radiate color and explore the philosophy of beauty through dreamlike brushstrokes reflecting the magic of nature.Organized by the Directorate of Cultural Activities of the Wilaya of Algiers, the exhibition is hosted at the Qasr El-Dey in Hussein Dey. It marks Zatir’s first solo exhibition, featuring over 20 artworks in various sizes, painted with oil, acrylic, and watercolor on canvas, paper, and wood. These works reflect the artist’s creative spirit and her deep, aesthetic view of nature and its spiritual resonance. The exhibition invites visitors on a journey through Zatir’s artistic path, heavily influenced by abstract and impressionist schools. Her childhood fascination with nature vividly emerges in works like *”Tree of Life,”* *”Twilight,”* and *”Sunset,”* created over the past three months. These pieces soar through the world of visual art, offering a joyful experience for viewers.Dominated by vibrant colors such as yellow, orange, red, and green, Zatir’s paintings express her inner world. With masterful control of color gradients and reflections, she translates aspects of her connection with nature and personal life experiences onto the canvas. Her work is also rich with symbolic and cultural references, drawing from Algerian and African heritage as well as architectural designs. Inspired particularly by the sea and forests, Zatir combines harmonious colors and striking geometric forms to create uniquely composed artworks.Zatir described this inaugural exhibition as “a colorful fruit of her passion for painting,” and an opportunity to share her artistic expressions. She noted that her works reflect a strong attachment to cultural heritage, inner emotions, and a deep fascination with memory and architectural legacy. She further explained that her compositions rely on a mosaic of vibrant colors, some carrying symbols and geometric dimensions linked to specific places. “Each viewer is free to interpret the work from their own perspective,” she added.Amira Zatir is also a lecturer in architecture, urban planning, and heritage at the Polytechnic School of Architecture and Urban Planning in Algiers.
