On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities, and Urban Planning, Ibrahim Merad, arrived in Jijel to assess the situation following the crash of a “Zelin” reconnaissance plane belonging to the Civil Protection. The crash, which occurred on Tuesday at Ferhat Abbas Airport, took place during a training mission, resulting in the tragic deaths of four personnel. The victims included Major Redouane Berghi, the head of the Civil Protection’s air group, Captain Sohaib Glai, a trainee pilot, a flight instructor from the Abdatta Aviation School, and the manager of Tractor Aviation Company, a Chilean national.
