Algeria Blames Israel for ‘Deliberately Orchestrating’ Famine in Gaza

Algeria has strongly condemned Israel following the United Nations’ declaration of a state of famine in the Gaza Strip, accusing Tel Aviv of deliberately engineering the crisis through its prolonged blockade of the territory.

On Friday, the UN confirmed that famine conditions had officially taken hold in Gaza, marking what Algerian officials described as an “unprecedented and extremely dangerous development” in the history of the Palestinian struggle and the broader Middle East.

In a statement released on Saturday, August 23, Algeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the announcement validated warnings long raised by humanitarian organizations about the catastrophic impact of Israel’s blockade. The ministry went further, accusing Israel of having “planned” the famine as part of its campaign against the Palestinian people.

Algeria emphasized that the recognition of famine by the UN not only underscores the severity of the humanitarian disaster in Gaza but also demands urgent international accountability.
