Algeria’s rich cultural heritage took centre stage as the 7th National Cultural Festival of Traditional Costume opened in Algiers. Culture and Arts Minister Zouhir Ballalou presided over the opening ceremony, which features designers and artisans from 14 provincesaps.dz. The festival runs until 2 September and showcases hand‑stitched garments, embroidery and regional attire. Workshops and fashion shows aim to promote traditional craftsmanship and inspire younger generations to preserve ancestral techniques. Organisers hope the event will stimulate cultural tourism and support rural artisans whose work keeps Algeria’s diverse heritage alive.
