Algiers – The Algerian Water and Sanitation Company (SEAL) continues its efforts to raise awareness among citizens about the importance of preserving drinking water through educational and sensitization programs aimed at rationalizing consumption and protecting this vital resource, according to a report by Sabaq Press.
In this context, SEAL has doubled its efforts through awareness programs featuring a variety of activities targeting different societal groups. These include organizing educational visits to water production facilities for school students, university students, and members of the Islamic Scouts. Over the past year, 1,075 participants benefited from 47 such visits, while 24 visits have been organized since the beginning of 2025, benefiting 407 university students and 254 school students.
Additionally, SEAL launched awareness activities for children during sports and cultural events, such as World Water Day, the “African Open Triathlon Cup,” and the “National Half-Marathon Championship” in Tipaza Province, where it established “water classes” to promote awareness.
Regarding media content, the company aired a month-long campaign titled “A Drop of Water Equals Life,” featuring four awareness videos on social media platforms. During the last Ramadan, SEAL also ran a “Daily Tip” series encouraging responsible consumption behaviors, alongside other instructional videos produced in collaboration with media institutions.
During Eid al-Adha, a period marked by peak water consumption, SEAL organized a broad awareness campaign reaching approximately 10 million followers on social media, in coordination with the Ministries of Religious Affairs and Endowments, the Supreme Islamic Council, and active associations in the field.
These efforts continued during the current summer season through digital content promoting rational water use, alongside audio-visual announcements broadcast on national radio and television channels. This reflects SEAL’s commitment to continuous awareness-raising for sustainable development and improving public services.
