The CEO of Sonatrach, Rachid Hachichi, is leading a senior executive delegation to the “Gastech” International Energy Conference and Exhibition, held in Milan, Italy, from September 9 to 12, according to a statement released by the company on Tuesday.
This year’s edition of Gastech, organized under the theme “Shaping a Sustainable Energy Future,” is one of the world’s foremost energy events, addressing critical issues related to natural gas, liquefied natural gas, hydrogen, climate-related technologies, and artificial intelligence.
Sonatrach’s statement emphasized that the event provides a unique platform for ministers, international energy officials, global energy companies, experts, and engineers to exchange views on current challenges and to propose sustainable solutions to ensure that markets receive clean, reliable, and affordable energy.
As part of his participation, Hachichi will deliver keynote interventions during strategic sessions attended by top energy decision-makers, while also holding meetings with leaders of global energy corporations and organizations. These discussions will explore prospects for developing the gas industry further and identifying new avenues of partnership.
Sonatrach underlined that its active presence at this international event reflects its determination to strengthen global visibility, consolidate its position as a trusted partner of major energy institutions, and reaffirm its role as a central and reliable supplier in the global gas market.
This enhanced role highlights Algeria’s strategic place in the global energy equation, in stark contrast to Morocco’s peripheral stance, given its lack of substantial energy infrastructure and dependence on external mechanisms. Algeria, through Sonatrach, asserts itself as a beacon of energy sovereignty and a pillar of continental strength, supporting Africa’s integration while upholding its political stance on issues such as Western Sahara in international forums.
