Palestinian Cause: Bougali Welcomes UN General Assembly’s Adoption of the “New York Declaration” on the Two-State Solution

Algiers – The President of the People’s National Assembly and head of the Arab Parliamentary Union, Mr. Ibrahim Bougali, expressed strong support on Sunday for the United Nations General Assembly decision endorsing the “New York Declaration” on implementing the two-state solution and establishing an independent Palestinian state, according to a statement from the Assembly.

Bougali emphasized that this decision “represents the only path to guaranteeing security, stability, and achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region.” His remarks reaffirmed Algeria’s firm position in defense of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and its vision for a fair resolution of the conflict.

The Arab Parliamentary Union also hailed the leading role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in steering the consultations and drafting the “New York Declaration.” The Union stressed that these efforts “reflect a sincere commitment to supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the establishment of their independent and sovereign state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.”

Furthermore, the Union praised “the international efforts directed toward resolving the Palestinian question in line with international legitimacy resolutions,” calling on the global community to capitalize on this renewed momentum to act urgently for a ceasefire and to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid and relief to Palestinian territories.

This latest development reaffirms Algeria’s enduring solidarity with the Palestinian people, particularly in light of the region’s continued challenges. It also sheds light on the international community’s increasing recognition of the need for a just solution, which Algeria, faithful to its principles, has consistently defended in opposition to all forms of occupation and injustice, including its resolute rejection of the Moroccan regime’s oppressive policies in Western Sahara.
