Algerian Ligue 1 “Mobilis”: MC Alger Triumphs in Akbou, JS Kabylie Stumbles in Oran

Algiers – On Friday, September 12, 2025, MC Alger secured a crucial victory in their challenging away match against league leaders Olympique Akbou, defeating them 1-0 in one of the fourth-round fixtures of the Algerian Ligue 1 “Mobilis” football championship. Meanwhile, JS Kabylie suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 2-0 to MC Oran, as reported by aps.dz.

At their home ground, Olympique Akbou, one of the league’s frontrunners, failed to capitalize on the valuable draw they earned in Tizi Ouzou the previous week, marking their first loss of the season. They were defeated by defending champions MC Alger, who secured the win with a goal from their international defender Halaimia in the 8th minute, a lead they maintained until the final whistle. Halaimia’s goal, coming from the team’s top scorer last season, not only propelled MC Alger up the mid-table standings (with two games in hand) but also marked their first victory in two matches.

MC Oran capitalized on Olympique Akbou’s stumble to join them at the top of the standings, following a 2-0 home victory over JS Kabylie. The goals were scored by Chakib Oujane in the 53rd minute and striker Boukhold from a penalty in the 89th minute.

The fourth round began on Thursday, with Mustaqbal Rouisset emerging as one of the beneficiaries after earning a valuable 1-1 draw away against Espérance Mostaganem. This result allowed them to join Olympique Akbou at the top of the table with seven points each, before MC Oran also reached the same tally on Friday.

Elsewhere, Widad Sétif secured their first win of the season, defeating Chabab Constantine 2-1 in the eastern “clasico” at the 8 May 1945 Stadium in Sétif. This crucial victory enabled the “Black Eagle” of Sétif to match Constantine’s points tally, with both teams now sharing third place in the standings with six points each.

The fourth round concludes on Saturday with the remaining three scheduled matches:

  • Olympique Chlef vs. MC El Bayadh (5:00 PM)
  • CR Belouizdad vs. JS Saoura (7:00 PM)
  • USM Alger vs. USM Khenchela (7:00 PM)
