Saioud Outlines Priority Guidelines with Central Executives

Algiers – The Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Said Saioud, chaired on Tuesday evening a coordination meeting with central executives, dedicated to discussing the priority areas of the ministry’s sectoral work, according to a statement from the ministry.

During the meeting, held at the Government Palace, the Minister emphasized the importance of implementing measures to ensure optimal preparation for the upcoming school year. He also stressed the necessity of preventive actions related to the autumn and winter seasons, highlighting that these efforts must be continuous, based on expertise studies and quality standards, rather than being limited to circumstantial campaigns. In this regard, he underlined the central role of elected local councils.

In his first directives since taking office, Saioud recalled the importance attached by the President of the Republic to strengthening local governance and the President’s instructions to eliminate the negative practices still observed in certain towns and villages. These include shortcomings in public facilities, vital network supplies, environmental cleanliness, and urban planning.

The Minister instructed the drafting of an action plan to “address at the root the various concerns of local development, which are at the heart of citizens’ comfort and satisfaction.” He also announced the strengthening of inspection and field control mechanisms to detect dysfunctions and determine effective solutions.

Particular attention was given to public services, as the Minister highlighted the need for their continuous improvement and modernization.
