The 17th Edition of the International Comic Strip Festival: 17 Countries Participate, Egypt as Guest of Honor

The 17th edition of the International Comic Strip Festival in Algeria (FIBDA) will be held from October 1 to 5, featuring artists from Algeria and sixteen other countries. Egypt will participate as the guest of honor. The festival, themed “Children’s Edition,” will host numerous activities and events at Riadh El Fath Square in Algiers, including exhibitions showcasing the works of participating artists.

Alongside Egypt, participating countries include Spain, the United States, Canada, Japan, Palestine, Tunisia, Lebanon, Mexico, Cameroon, and Slovenia. Visitors will be able to discover comic strips and Japanese manga through exhibitions and workshops led by professionals from various nations.

The festival program includes lectures on Algerian comic strips, children’s comics, and the profession of scriptwriting, in addition to cultural events featuring spaces representing the participating countries like the USA and Spain. Entertainment areas such as electronic games and educational workshops for children and teenagers will also be part of the program.

Competitions, artistic performances, and a closing concert by a Slovenian band will mark the festival’s finale at Riadh El Fath Square. Admission is free for students of the Higher School of Fine Arts and people with disabilities, while ticket prices are set at 400 DA for adults and 200 DA for children.

Organized since 2008 under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture and Arts, the festival aims to promote Algerian comic art by showcasing the works of local artists and creators.elitihadcom
