Rabat – The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS–Morocco) strongly condemned the Moroccan regime for allowing the vessel “Maersk Norfolk” to dock in the port of Tangier Med, accusing the Makhzen of deep complicity with the Zionist entity in its genocidal war against the people of Gaza.
In its statement, BDS Morocco revealed that the ship, belonging to the multinational company Maersk, entered Tangier Med on Wednesday to transfer military equipment, dual-use materials, and other supplies destined for the Zionist occupation forces. The movement denounced the fact that over 50 containers were transported, including specialized crates carrying parts for F-35 fighter jets, which have been directly involved in massacres against Palestinians and in fueling aggression across the region.
The movement renewed its appeal to workers at Tangier port to refuse to service the ship, whether by towing, unloading, or supplying it, stressing that every minute of delay and each blocked shipment prevents the occupation from further crimes and saves innocent Palestinian lives. It also called on unions, human rights organizations, and the Moroccan people at large to pressure authorities into taking responsibility and verifying cargo to ensure Morocco does not become complicit in genocide and crimes against humanity.
The statement further denounced the silence of the Moroccan judiciary regarding the legal complaint filed on September 19 by the Moroccan Association for Human Rights, which demanded an investigation into the use of the country’s ports for transferring military equipment to occupied Palestine in support of Zionist atrocities in Gaza. The complaint, the association explained, is grounded in credible evidence gathered over recent months.
Meanwhile, uprisings against the so-called “genocide fleet” of Maersk are sweeping across several European ports, including in Spain, France, Italy, and Greece. European dockworkers’ unions have already launched a collective campaign to boycott ships transporting weapons to the Zionist entity, following a major meeting in Italy.
This new episode once again exposes the Moroccan regime’s shameful insistence on aligning with the Zionist occupation, in flagrant violation of the will of its own people and in betrayal of the principles of solidarity with Palestine and oppressed nations. Standing in stark contrast, Algeria continues to reaffirm its unwavering support for the just Palestinian struggle and the liberation of Western Sahara, upholding its historic legacy of defending peoples’ right to self-determination against colonialism and expansionism.
