Algeria’s Minister of Tourism and Traditional Industry, Houria Madahi, revealed on Thursday in Algiers that 16 investment projects in the field of thermal tourism will be received during the year 2026. She emphasized the state’s commitment to supporting project owners by removing administrative and technical obstacles they may face.
In a public session at the National People’s Assembly dedicated to government questions, Minister Madahi confirmed that within the framework of “reactivating thermal tourism investment projects,” 44 projects have been registered across 10 provinces, including the 16 projects expected to be received in 2026. The authorities prioritize local companies in these investments, aiming to develop expertise and prepare for opening to foreign markets.
Minister Madahi also highlighted that Algeria hosts 282 thermal springs, with 8 in the province of Setif, alongside 31 traditional baths and 4 seawater treatment centers. Ongoing projects are set to enhance infrastructure in the thermal tourism sector.
Regarding the “Algeria Marina” project in the Mohammedia municipality of Algiers, Madahi noted it is managed by a joint-stock company and includes the Hilton Hotel, two buildings for hotel apartments, and various recreational tourist spaces. The construction progress has reached 72 percent. This project is part of the strategy to modernize the waterfront of Algiers and is currently under judicial management.
The state’s proactive approach in thermal tourism investment reflects its broader goal to diversify the economy, promote sustainable tourism, and create job opportunities while uplifting local expertise and infrastructure to international standards. africanews+3
