Closing of the 10th South Korean Cultural Week in Algiers with a K-Pop Competition

The 10th edition of the South Korean Cultural Week in Algiers concluded with a K-pop competition in the singing and dancing categories. The awards were presented by the South Korean ambassador to Algeria, Mr. Yoo Ki-Joon, who honored the winners: Khawla Mallak Tayeb for singing, Jamila Drahi (known by her stage name “Soda”) for dancing, and the group “Dream Zone Do K Show,” which received a special jury award.

The closing ceremony, held in the Ibn Khaldoun Hall on Wednesday, saw the ambassador praise the deep cultural ties between Algeria and South Korea. He expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Culture and Arts and the Algiers province for their valuable cooperation in organizing this important event. Mr. Yoo Ki-Joon emphasized the role of culture in bringing peoples closer and fostering understanding, a need that is more crucial than ever today.

This cultural week, held from October 4 to 8, featured various art exhibitions, the screening of the film “Poem to My Father” by director Yoon Ji-Kyung at the TMV Cinema Complex in Oulad Fayet, a Korean language proficiency contest at the Mufdi Zakaria Palace of Culture, and the K-pop competition at Ibn Khaldoun Hall.

The event highlighted the richness and diversity of South Korean culture and its growing cultural diplomacy in Algeria, strengthening bilateral relations through artistic and cultural exchange.aps+2
