The Algerian People's National Army (ANP), heir to the National Liberation Army, continues with unwavering determination to fulfill its solemn responsibilities in defending the nation and strengthening its sovereignty and independence. The ANP has consistently demonstrated its readiness, professionalism, and effectiveness in carrying out its noble tasks. Its personnel are always prepared to overcome all challenges and ward off all threats, regardless of their nature or origin, with the sole aim of spreading security and reassurance throughout Algeria.
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, has expressed his pride in the ANP’s development and adaptation to various forms of modern threats. During his visit to the Ministry of National Defense on October 9th, he stated: “Our army has become formidable because it has adapted to circumstances and the defensive doctrine, adapted to hybrid warfare, cyber warfare, and artificial intelligence. Today, it has become a higher school of patriotism and fierce defense of our freedom, the sanctity of our territory, and loyalty to the message of November 1, 1954.”
He further added: “Our borders are secure, thanks to God, because the army is strong, the army is vigilant, and the army is defending the sanctity of the national territory; otherwise, we would be the target of ambitions.” The remarkable results achieved by the ANP on the ground directly reflect this deep commitment and sincere loyalty to the covenant of the martyrs.
Military units deployed across the country continue their efforts to secure borders and combat organized crime, particularly terrorism, which remains a silent threat. The recent successful operation in the Fifth Military Region, which resulted in the elimination of seven terrorists and the recovery of weapons and ammunition, exemplifies this determination. The operation was closely monitored in the field by Lieutenant General Said Chengriha, Chief of Staff of the ANP, who emphasized the importance of the operation and commended the efforts of the participating units.
This field success is not isolated but part of a comprehensive vision for the army’s professionalism and modernization. The ANP continues its modernization at a steady pace, keeping pace with current security and technological challenges, while serving the New Algeria project. This is achieved through an integrated defense strategy that considers national capabilities and adopts modern approaches, keeping pace with global transformations and ensuring the protection of national gains in various fields.
In this context, Lieutenant General Chengriha stressed the importance of relying on self-reliance, stating: “Experiences throughout history have proven that countries that rely on their own strength and internal components are better able to face external threats. The cohesion of the people with their leadership and state institutions is the cornerstone in building the edifice of national security and achieving systemic stability of the state.” He added that the strategic choices established by the President are based on “a strong army, an emerging economy, and a united front.”
