Algeria: Housing Minister Inspects 3,000 AADL Housing Project in R’ghaia

Algeria's Minister of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, conducted an inspection visit on Monday to the 3,000-unit AADL (National Housing Improvement and Development Agency) housing project in the Bourouba neighborhood of R’ghaia, Algiers. The project provides subsidized rental housing, known as “location-vente” in French, for eligible Algerians.

During the visit, Minister Belaribi examined the various components of the project, confirming the completion of construction on the apartment buildings and the primary and secondary infrastructure within the site. He paid particular attention to the progress of work on the main entrance to the neighborhood, which is being overseen by AADL itself. The Minister noted that this work is in its final stages.

Minister Belaribi issued directives to finalize all remaining finishing touches and to expedite the connection of the neighborhood to essential utilities, including water, electricity, and gas. This is being done to prepare the conditions necessary for the swift distribution of the housing units to their rightful beneficiaries.

The AADL program is a key component of the Algerian government’s efforts to provide affordable housing for its citizens. The program offers long-term rental agreements with the option to purchase the property after a specified period. This initiative aims to address the housing shortage in Algeria and provide opportunities for homeownership for low and middle-income families. The completion of the R’ghaia project will contribute significantly to meeting the housing demand in the Algiers region.

The minister emphasized the importance of adhering to quality standards and ensuring timely completion of all remaining tasks. He reiterated the government’s commitment to providing decent and affordable housing for all Algerians. The AADL program is considered a vital instrument in achieving this objective.

The visit underscores the government’s focus on monitoring and accelerating the progress of housing projects across the country. The completion and allocation of these units are expected to provide much-needed relief to eligible families and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of the region.
