Severe Thunderstorms Forecast for Several Algerian Provinces

DZWatch has received information indicating that several provinces in Algeria are bracing for significant thunderstorms starting this evening. The national weather service has issued special weather advisories, warning of potentially heavy rainfall and strong winds across affected areas.

A first alert focuses on the provinces of Tipaza, Algiers, Blida, Boumerdes, and Bouira. These regions can expect locally significant thunderstorms with rainfall amounts potentially reaching 40mm. The advisory is in effect from 6:00 PM today, Saturday, and will continue until midday on Sunday.

A second, more severe, weather alert has been issued for the provinces of Tizi Ouzou, Setif, Bejaia, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, and El Tarf. This advisory warns of heavy thunderstorms with rainfall exceeding 70mm in some localized areas. The period of concern extends from 9:00 PM this evening, Saturday, through 9:00 PM on Sunday. Residents in these areas should anticipate substantial rainfall accompanied by strong winds.
