Jijel, Algeria – Minister of Water Resources, Taha Derbal, has emphasized the critical importance of fully digitizing the water sector to ensure more effective management of water resources. The Minister made the remarks during a working visit to Jijel Province, which commenced today.
Minister Derbal stated that completing the digitization process will “guarantee more efficient management of water resources.” He highlighted that digitization and remote control of various facilities and networks within the sector will significantly improve performance in delivering high-quality public services. Furthermore, he noted that this initiative will eliminate human error and delays in interventions and decision-making processes.
“This is a crucial step towards modernizing our water management infrastructure,” Derbal explained. “By embracing digital technologies, we can optimize resource allocation, reduce waste, and ensure a more sustainable water supply for all citizens.”
In addition to the technological advancements, the Minister urged officials within the sector to prioritize the development and enhancement of human resources. He stressed the “need to value the human element to guarantee optimal management of public services related to the sector,” adding that digitization is currently one of the sector’s top priorities.
Minister Derbal is scheduled to continue his working visit in Jijel Province, inspecting several projects in the municipalities of Texenna, Djimla, and El Milia. The visit underscores the government’s commitment to improving water resource management and infrastructure across the country.
The digitization initiative is expected to be a cornerstone of Algeria’s efforts to address water scarcity and improve the overall efficiency of its water sector.
